Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is currently negotiating a contract extension, and insists that there is no deal in place for him to join Juventus when his current contract runs out, according to a report.
Sky Sports Italy had reported that there was an agreement for the German international to move to Italy in the Summer, however, Sky Sports now report that Can claims there is no agreement.
Can is one of the only players brought in by Brendan Rodgers to retain a regular starting role under Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the German international stated that he is not solely responsible for the negotiations, as his agent is handling a lot of the business.
“My agent is looking after everything but I am here until the summer. I haven’t signed anything (with Juventus) or anyone,
“I am talking with everyone, of course I am talking with Liverpool. Why not? I still have a contract here. It is an amazing club. What can I say? My agent does the rest,” Can added.
The 24-year-old is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club before his current contract expires.
Football Insider verdict:
Liverpool will not want to lose the services of Emre Can, who has solidified himself as a fan-favourite at Anfield. Juventus would be getting the bargain of the Summer should they land him on a free transfer, yet as Can insists, talks are ongoing with Liverpool. The 24-year-old is highly regarded as a very technical and strong player, he even opened his international account since joining Anfield – and has since gone on to make 20 caps. We think that resigning Can would be high upon Klopp’s priorities list.
