Manchester United are eyeing up Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland

Liverpool are planning on making a £40million bid for Stoke City stopper Jack Butland, according to a report.
The Sun states that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign the England keeper but that Premier League rivals Arsenal are also in the running for the player.
Butland has been one of the Potters only rays of light this season and despite having the worst goals conceded record in the English top-flight with 53, were it not for the form of the 24-year-old it could have been much worse.
The German boss has been in the hunt for a new stopper as neither of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have been good enough for the Reds this term while Mignolet has also admitted that his future may lie elsewhere.
The Sun also claims that Mignolet is on the verge of leaving Liverpool after being dropped by Klopp.
Football Insider verdict:
Whichever way you look at it, Liverpool will be signing a goalkeeper at the end of this season. Klopp knows only too well that his current options are not up to scratch and Mignolet, in particular, has been at fault for a number of goals against. There have been a number of names linked with the Reds as they look to resolve this problem area but whether Butland is the answer is questionable. After having a season where his goal has been pelted it will surely not do much for his confidence levels and he could have that hanging over him with a move to Merseyside.
