Report: Newcastle 23-year-old set to miss start of 2017-18 campaign

DeAndre Yedlin could miss the start of next season with Newcastle as he looks set to represent USA at the 2017 Gold Cup in the summer, according to a report.
Yedlin, 23, is currently sidelined with a thigh injury that is likely to keep him out until April but is on course to play a part in the Toon’s Championship title run-in.
However, the Evening Chronicle reports that former Tottenham right-back Yedlin is likely to be called up to represent his country during the summer and will miss a chunk of Toon’s pre-season.
If Bruce Arena’s side reach the final of the tournament, speed machine Yedlin will not return to Tyneside until after July 26.
The Premier League season commences on August 12, while the Championship commences six days earlier, and without time to recover or go through pre-season training, Yedlin is likely to be given time.

Yedlin represented his country during the 2015 edition of the tournament, which saw the States reach the semi-finals before being knocked out by Jamaica. He has 40 caps for his country.
The former Sunderland defender has failed to feature for Rafa Benitez’s side since the fourth of March, allowing Dutchman Vurnon Anita to receive game time on the right side of defence.
This season, Newcastle’s number 22 has featured 28 times in all competitions and even found the back of the net from defence against Derby County back in September.
In other Newcastle news, the first move has been made regarding this young striker.
