Report: Premier League clubs eye Nottingham Forest midfield starlet

By Amir Mir

Nottingham Forest midfielder Luke McCormick is attracting the interest of Premier League clubs, according to a report.

The Mirror claim in their transfer blog on Monday afternoon (3.43pm) that top tier sides have begun monitoring the 16-year-old.

McCormick is a product of the Forest academy and the teenager has excelled for his age group in recent months.

He has scored seven goals in eight games from the middle of the park for the under-18s team as they currently sit top of their professional development league.

Forest recently sold senior midfielder Henri Lansbury to Midlands rivals Aston Villa as the first-team are currently without a manager.

Football Insider verdict:

McCormick should not be tempted by a move to the Premier League but should take the interest as a compliment to the work he is currently doing. The 16-year-old has been in fine form for the Forest youngsters and he is clearly developing at a good rate. Moving to a top tier side will only result in the midfielder playing for another academy. At this moment in time, the Forest under-18 side sit top of their tree in the development league, therefore, there is no reason for him to move elsewhere. Not only that, despite his young age, if he continues to produce the goods then he will only move higher up the ranks at the Championship club.
