Report reveals new timeline over crucial talks for senior Tottenham star - news deals incoming
Both Tottenham and star defender Toby Alderweireld will wait until summer to see where the club lie as talks over a new contract rumble on at the club, according to a report.
Football news website football.london claim that Spurs are patiently waiting on the Belgian centre back to commit to a new deal, but that a new minimum deadline of the end of the season has been placed in order for all parties to judge on the previous campaign’s successes or failures.
It is said that while talks are ongoing, there is not expected to be any deal concluded before the season comes to an end, but that the club themselves are not too concerned about the situation.
The report states that incoming deals over the coming months for Alderweireld’s fellow first stars, Harry Kane and Dele Alli, will help shoehorn the defender into the new and improved wage bracket that the club are putting in place, with the England striker set to become the outright top earner, currently sharing the honour with goalkeeper and club captain Hugo Lloris.
The 74-cap Belgium international has made 105 appearances across all competitions during his time at Spurs, but has been limited to just 17 outings in both the league and the cups this season as a result of a serious hamstring injury which sidelined him for three months.
