Reported Rangers transfer targets Dominic Solanke and Ben Woodburn have been named in Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s squad for Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev – and could get a chance to impress Steven Gerrard against the Spanish giants.
The Anfield side confirmed the pool that will travel to the Ukrainian capital on Thursday before the meet Zinedine Zidane’s side on Saturday night.
According to The Express, Woodburn and Solanke are both players who Gerrard is interested in bringing to Ibrox and the chance to feature in the biggest game in club football will be a huge opportunity for the youngsters.
Football Insider verdict:
Being part of Klopp’s squad for the Champions League final just shows how highly-rated the young pair are at Anfield and gives a hint at the quality of player the Gers would be getting if Gerrard can convince them to move north of the border temporarily. Both players have fantastic pedigrees and if they can secure one, or both, then it is another step in the right direction. With seven caps for Wales already, Woodburn is a particularly exciting prospect and at only 18, lifting the European Cup would be an incredible achievement at such a young age. Gerrard certainly seems to have a firm idea of what he wants to bring to Ibrox and the chance to see the players play in such a huge game will help convince Rangers fans of how good they are. Although neither is likely to play a massive role in Klopp’s side, anything could happen and one could find themselves end up being the centre of attention come Saturday night.
