It seems to have come very quickly, but Celtic have only three days to complete a permanent deal for Odsonne Edouard before other clubs can speak to the 20-year-old striker.
The Hoops have an option to buy the player, but the deadline is swiftly approaching and as yet there is no news about a deal for the Frenchman.
It was reported by the Daily Mail around three weeks ago that the Hoops were set to complete a £5million for the player, but it has all gone quiet since then.
The deal seems to be pivotal to the Hoops’ transfer plans for the summer, as if the Bhoys are unable to sign the Frenchman, they will have to turn their attention to a new striking target, just weeks ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.
Failure to secure Edouard would also annoy Brendan Rodgers, who seems very keen to sign the striker, who excelled in some of the Hoops’ bigger games last season, scoring three goals against Rangers.
There seems to be a waiting game going on at the moment regarding the transfer, and that isn’t doing anybody any good at all.
The Hoops should look to get the deal done before the June 16th deadline, or move on to other targets – the club can’t afford to be left in limbo with the Champions League qualifiers on the horizon.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops have been linked with the unlikely signing of a Brazilian striker
