Bristol City are in advanced talks to sign Brentford goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, Football Insider can reveal.
The Championship club are working on a deal to land the 25-year-old as they look to strengthen in the keeper position ahead of the new season.
A City source has told Football Insider that manager Lee Johnson is increasingly confident of securing the capture of Bentley after indications Brentford are willing to cash in on him.
Negotiations are underway and have reached an advanced stage, with the two clubs discussing what would be a multi-million pound fee.
The former Southend man has been targeted by the south-west club because he is proven in the Championship and they believe he could slot straight into their starting XI.
Bentley was the Brenford number one last season, making 33 league starts until a shoulder injury picked up against Middlesbrough in March ended his campaign two months prematurely.
The keeper joined the Bees on a free transfer from Southend in the summer of 2016, and has gone to make 125 appearances for the London club.
The 6ft 3in colossus has extensive experience in League One and League Two, as well as having played 123 Championship matches.
In other Bristol City news, it can be REVEALED that the club have started talks to sign a prolific 23-year-old after Leeds open negotiations.
