Revealed: Chelsea plot swap deal to fend off Tottenham swoop for Gallagher
Chelsea could be willing to include reported Tottenham target Conor Gallagher in a potential deal for Brighton star Moises Caicedo, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (19 June) that the Blues are pushing to complete the signing of Caicedo, 21, as soon as possible with an official bid coming this week.
A well-placed source has revealed that Chelsea could include a player in their offer in order to alleviate their Financial Fair Play concerns after a lavish transfer spend in the 2022-23 campaign.
Gallagher, 23, is the subject of long-term interest from Brighton.
Sources told Football Insider on Monday that the Seagulls see the Chelsea star as an ideal ready-made replacement for Alexis Mac Allister – who has already completed a summer move to Liverpool.
Gallagher has also been linked with Tottenham and Newcastle in recent weeks.
It is believed a potential swap deal for Caicedo will not be straightforward – but his inclusion in any potential offer could be key to striking a deal with Brighton.
A well-placed source has revealed that the south coast club value the Ecuador international at between £80-85million after he signed a new four-year contract earlier this year.
England international Gallagher, who came off the bench as the Three Lions beat North Macedonia 7-0 on Monday, made 45 appearances in the 2022-23 season – scoring three and assisting one.
His contract at Chelsea, which nets him a reported £50,000-a-week, runs until June 2025.

Caicedo made 43 appearances in all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, notching one goal and one assist.
The midfielder has also been the subject of interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United and Man City – but Chelsea are the front-runner for his signature with the transfer window now open.
