Exclusive: Leeds in-form forward jets out to Spain, will miss next two matches

EXCLUSIVE By Richard Parks

Highly-rated Leeds forward Jack Clarke will not be involved with the first-team over the Easter period despite calls for his inclusion, Football Insider sources understand.

Supporters have demanded Clarke to be included in Paul Heckingbottom’s first-team plans after excelling for the club’s Under-23s side in recent weeks.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Heckingbottom has overlooked Clarke and that the teenager will instead travel to Spain with Leeds’ Under-17s squad for a youth tournament this weekend.

It means he will play no part in clashes against Bolton on Good Friday and Fulham next Tuesday.

Heckingbottom has brought Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce into the first-team from the academy since his arrival at Elland Road, but he has resisted the growing clamour for Clarke to be the latest starlet to be given his opportunity in the first-team.

Clarke is regarded as one of the most promising players to come through at Leeds in recent years and he signed his first professional deal last November.

The news will come as a blow to Leeds fans who were hoping to see the exciting Clarke given the chance to play with so many other senior players failing to inspire the side to better results.

Clarke, 17, tormented the Cardiff City defence in a development side match at Thorp Arch last Friday and created both of Leeds’ first two goals in their 3-0 triumph, which was their fourth consecutive win.
