Revealed: David Sullivan intervenes as West Ham bust-up takes new twist
West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has intervened in the high-profile clash between manager David Moyes and director of football Tim Steidten, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the experienced 74-year-old has now taken a hands-on role in the summer recruitment at the London Stadium.
The news comes amid growing frustration from fans and senior West Ham figures alike about the lack of transfer activity since selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for a British-record fee.
Sources told Football Insider on Friday (4 August) that tensions are high between Irons boss Moyes and director of football Steidten – with the senior duo struggling to find common ground as they draw up transfer plans.
It is believed the Scot is keen to add tried and trusted Premier League signings to his squad, while newly-appointed Steidten wants younger players with the potential to provide resale value to his new club.
But a well-placed West Ham source has now revealed that Sullivan is keen to get things moving and is already making in-roads with the new season just days away.
The Londoners are now expected to step up their interest in several key targets and could seal their first summer signing before the big kick-off against Bournemouth on Saturday (12 August).
As such, Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (8 August) that West Ham believe their latest £30million bid for former Man United captain Harry Maguire will be enough to seal an agreement.
The Irons are also keen on Maguire’s United teammate Scott McTominay as they look to replace departed captain Rice in their midfield.

West Ham are also preparing to move for a prolific striker after Gianluca Scamacca completed his move to Atalanta for a reported initial fee of £22.5million.
Moyes’ side will play Europa League football this term after winning the Europa Conference League last season.
