Revealed: How much West Ham will pay after agreeing deadline-busting Axel Disasi deal
West Ham have signed Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea as they look to avoid relegation to the Championship.
West Ham suffered a crushing 3-2 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday (31 January), having been two goals ahead at half-time.
Disasi has arrived at the London Stadium on a deal until the end of the season, with Nuno Espirito Santo desperate to shore up his defence.
West Ham have conceded 48 goals in their opening 24 Premier League games this season, marking the worst defensive record in the top flight.
Nuno will be hoping Disasi can help improve matters at the back, with the Hammers currently sitting 18th in the table and six points from safety.
How West Ham have structured Axel Disasi deal
Disasi has been frozen out at Chelsea this season, meaning it could take some time for him to get up to speed at the London Stadium.
The 27-year-old, who made the move to Stamford Bridge for £38.8million from Monaco in the summer of 2023, spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
It was always expected Disasi would leave Chelsea in the January window, but West Ham took the deal right to the wire before confirming the loan agreement.
Although the France international started his medical on Friday (30 January), the Hammers had to submit a deal sheet to earn a two-hour extension to complete the signing on deadline day (2 February).
West Ham insider Sean Whetstone reported the east London club will pay Chelsea a £1.68m loan fee for Disasi and cover his £80,000-a-week wages until the end of the season.
With the centre-back registered to the Hammers until 30 June, it means they will pay five months’ worth of his wages, which is around £1.8m.
That takes the overall cost of the loan move to just under £3.5m.
Who have West Ham signed alongside Disasi?
Disasi became West Ham’s fifth signing of the mid-season window as London Stadium chiefs looked to back Nuno with reinforcements.
The Hammers agreed permanent deals for Taty Castellanos, Pablo Felipe and Adama Traore, while Keiber Lamadrid joined on loan from Venezuelan side Deportivo La Guaira.

In terms of exits, West Ham sold Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo for around £36m after the midfielder made it clear he wanted to return to the Brazilian club.
Luis Guilherme, Andy Irving and Guido Rodriguez completed permanent moves to Sporting Lisbon, Sparta Prague and Valencia, with Nicklas Fullkrug and James Ward-Prowse heading to AC Milan and Burnley on loan.
Nuno is now preparing his side to take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday (7 February) as they aim to give their survival hopes a boost.
