Revealed: Huge news expected today will have positive knock-on effect for Liverpool

Uefa are set to postpone Euro 2020 today to create space in the football calendar to complete domestic leagues in a move that is a major boost to Liverpool hopes of winning the title, Football Insider understands.

The governing body and its members are set for a videoconference today to decide the destiny of the competition as the coronavirus creates havoc for sports across the continent.

A Premier League source told Football Insider that top clubs have been told that Uefa stakeholders have held intensive discussions over recent days about postponing the European Championship finals and that is set to be ratified at today’s meeting.

It is likely the ruling body will vote to play the competition in the summer of 2021.

The imminent move from Uefa will have major knock-on effects for the major leagues across Europe.

It will create space for domestic leagues to continue into June and possibly even July, with next season most likely given new autumn start-off dates.

This will have the knock-on effect of boosting Liverpool’s title hopes just when they appeared up in the air.

The temporary shelving of matches came with Jurgen Klopp’s side an enormous 25 points clear at the top of the table.

The Premier League is set to take its lead from Uefa ahead of their own emergency meeting on Thursday.

Different scenarios are set to be discussed amid government projections that coronavirus is set to peak in the UK in late May and early June.

The Premier League announced last Friday they have agreed to suspend all matches until at least 4 April with immediate effect.

The reality is that the clubs do not expect to be back playing at that point as Covid-19 is so highly contagious that players are set to be in and out of isolation and unlikely to be fit to play again in three weeks.

In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that five senior players at the club are set for the exit in mass overhaul and star defender may follow.
