Revealed: Major update on Liverpool pursuit of Perr Schuurs – sources

Perr Schuurs has emerged as a top target for Liverpool this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The centre-back ticks a lot of boxes for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and is seen as a young player with the potential to develop into a top class defender.

The 23-year-old is also viewed as a cheaper alternative to some of the other big name centre-halves that are available this summer.

Torino paid a reported £7million for the defender last summer (2022) when he signed from Ajax.

Last week (3 July), Football Insider revealed that Liverpool have turned their attention to signing a centre-back after completing a move for midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

Klopp is keen to bolster his defensive set up with another central defender after a difficult 2022-23 campaign and after securing Szoboszlai’s services are ready to push on with a move for a defender.

On 5 July, Football Insider revealed that the Reds have shortlisted Goncalo Inacio of Sporting CP and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven as targets at centre-back.

Inacio has been impressing in Portugal, racking up 52 appearances across all competitions with four goals and three assists.

Van de Ven enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in the Bundesliga last term and made 36 appearances for the German side.

Schuurs featured 36 times for Torino last season and was in the starting lineup for 32 of those outings, scoring one goal and offering up two assists.
