Revealed: Newcastle’s chances of re-signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest in January
Newcastle United will find it “very hard” to complete a deal to re-sign Elliot Anderson in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Anderson moved from Newcastle to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2024 in search of more game time.
The 22-year-old has thrived at the City Ground, making 37 Premier League appearances last season as Forest secured European football.
Thomas Tuchel handed Anderson his England debut last month, and the midfielder was praised heavily for his performances against Andorra and Serbia.

Nottingham Forest to price Newcastle out of Elliott Anderson deal
Sources say that it will be difficult for Newcastle to afford Anderson in the January transfer window.
Nottingham Forest are likely to demand an extortionate figure for their star midfielder in order to stave off any interest.
Anderson could cost around £70million when the window reopens in the new year, as a result of his recent performances and undoubted potential.
It means that Forest are expected to hang onto the former Newcastle man until at least the end of the season, when there could be a big race for his signature.
Man United to challenge Newcastle for Anderson
Like Newcastle, Manchester United hold a serious interest in Anderson, as they look to solve their midfield issues.
Ruben Amorim’s side are crying out for a calm and composed figure in the middle of the park, and the Nottingham Forest star would provide just what the Red Devils need.

Man United had an approach for Carlos Baleba rejected by Brighton in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, so they could now pivot to Anderson as their main target.
However, as with Newcastle, it will be difficult for the Manchester side to get a deal over the line in the January window, so they may be forced to wait until the end of the season.
