Revealed: Nottingham Forest’s updated Arne Engels signing plan revealed
Nottingham Forest still have Celtic star Arne Engels on their shortlist of midfield targets, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League outfit are plotting another move for Engels in the summer, after they saw three last-minute bids rejected by Celtic on deadline day this winter.
Nottingham Forest still have the Belgian firmly on their radar as a long-term target, but sources say they would be unlikely to be able to make a concrete move for him if they were relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Football Insider revealed last week that Celtic rejected a £25million Forest offer for Engels due to the timing of their advancements, and they could yet escape a sale once again in the summer, with Sean Dyche’s side just three points clear of the relegation zone at the moment.

Celtic under no pressure to sell Arne Engels this summer
Football Insider revealed at the end of January that Engels will not push to leave Celtic in the immediate future, as he remains happy and content with his role at Celtic Park.
His club faced late pressure during the winter window with lucrative offers put on the table, but they stood firm as they continue to try and push to retain their Scottish Premiership title.
Forest’s interest could re-emerge in the summer if they can retain their top-flight status for another year, but the Bhoys are in a strong position regarding the 22-year-old’s long-term future.
Engels is under contract in Glasgow until the summer of 2028, and that will give Celtic crucial power to ensure that they can secure a beneficial fee if they ultimately have to sanction a sale.

Martin O’Neill’s side could get even more security over their star if Forest suffer relegation, as that would be one less potential buyer off the table.
Wilfried Nancy in shock running for English job
Wilfried Nancy is in the frame for the vacant Wigan Athletic job, after they dismissed their manager Ryan Lowe last weekend.
The Latics are currently two points adrift of safety in League One, with Lowe axed after a 6-1 defeat away at Peterborough United last time out.
That heavy defeat was Wigan’s eighth game in a row without a win in league action, and Nancy has emerged as an option to take over at the helm.
Former Celtic and Wigan defender Gary Caldwell is currently the favourite for the vacant position, while the likes of Will Still and Steve Bruce are also being linked with the role.
Nancy endured a disastrous spell at Celtic Park earlier this term, but he could soon be about to land his next role in the EFL.
