Revealed: Saint-Maximin could now push for Newcastle United move – sources

Allan Saint-Maximin could push for a Newcastle United exit this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the 26-year-old may go in search of more regular first-team football after a mixed 2022-23 campaign at St James’ Park.

This development comes after Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (6 June) that Newcastle will consider offers for Saint-Maximin this summer in a bid to raise transfer funds.

It is believed the winger will be the subject of interest yet again in the coming months after recent reports linking him to Italian giants AC Milan.

Saint-Maximin took to his Instagram on Tuesday (6 June) to pen a message to the Newcastle fans – thanking them for everything and claiming he has now “reached a turning point” in his career.

The Frenchman has three years left to run on his reported £70,000-a-week contract on Tyneside.

He struggled for game time in the 2022-23 campaign despite making 31 appearances and notching one goal and five assists.

Saint-Maximin made just 14 starts in those outings – with injury and poor form keeping him out of Eddie Howe’s first-choice starting eleven.

The winger, who cost Newcastle a reported £20million after add-ons, has managed 13 goals and 21 assists since joining from Nice in 2019.

Saint-Maximin’s involvement was diluted further after the reported £45million arrival of England Under-21 winger Anthony Gordon in the January window.

Howe’s side will play Champions League football in the 2023-24 campaign after achieving a fourth-place Premier League finish.
