Revealed: Vitor Roque’s stance on joining Man United after Barcelona twist

Vitor Roque could snub a potential move to join Man United by making a shock return to Barcelona.

Since moving back to Brazil in February 2025, the 20-year-old striker has been hot on the radar of Europe’s finest clubs.

Sources told Football Insider that Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United are all monitoring Roque’s progress as they look to bolster their attacking ranks.

Back in April 2023, Chelsea were interested in Roque and could reignite a long-awaited move in the coming months for the Brazilian.

Roque intrigued by move back to Europe to ‘prove a point’ to Barcelona

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the number nine could be in a position to make a return back to Europe.

The Palmeiras man arrived to Barcelona full of promise, yet ultimately failed to deliver, as he only scored twice in 16 appearances.

Roque then spent half the 2024-25 season on loan at Real Betis, before a mutual decision was made for him to return back to his native country to re-find his spark.

When the striker headed to the Catalan capital in January 2024, he was only 18-years-old, suggesting the burden of playing for one of the best sides in Europe was too much for the talented prodigy.

Conversely, Man United’s move for Roque could be scuppered should the forward prefer a return to the Blaugrana.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over Roque giving Europe, and possibly Barcelona another go, I explained: “Obviously, that disappointing spell at Barcelona would put question marks over him, whether he could do it in Europe.

“But, it does seem the player would be interested in a move back to Europe to prove a point to Barcelona that he could do it in the biggest leagues in European football as well.”

Barcelona to be active in transfer market as they keep tabs on Martin Odegaard

A shock comeback for Roque to the Nou Camp would certainly be a risky play from Hansi Flick as he looks to strengthen his attack.

Sources told Football Insider that Barcelona are interested in signing Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian has been plagued by injuries this season, yet his performances across his time in north London have caught the attention of the Blaugrana.

The Gunners are determined to hold on to the number eight, yet money talks in football which could change their attitude towards a possible deal.
