Rice injury 'disastrous' for West Ham after 'big' confirmed news - pundit

An injury for Declan Rice or Michail Antonio would be disastrous for West Ham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Angelo Ogbonna suffered an ACL injury in the 3-2 win over Liverpool at the weekend.

The Guardian report the defender, who has started all of West Ham’s Premier League games this term, could miss the rest of the season.

Craig Dawson replaced Ogbonna at the London Stadium against Liverpool and Agbonlahor has claimed he will be an adequate deputy.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “West Ham can go as far as they want as long as they can keep players fit.

“We’ve already seen they’ve lost Ogbonna, that’s going to be a big loss, he’s been very good. I know Dawson came in but it’s still going to be a loss.

“If key players do get injured, that will disrupt them and that’s my worry. If they lost Rice, if they lost Antonio.

“They can go as far as they want if they can keep everyone fit. They’ve got a very good chance of getting into the top-four.

“Ogbanna’s injury won’t be disastrous, he’s a good player but they’ve got Dawson was doing just as well before Kurt Zouma came in. I don’t think that’s the position where they will be too worried.

“They would be more worried if it was an Antonio or Rice that got injured. That would be disastrous.”

Their win against Liverpool lifted West Ham above them and into third place.

They are now just three points behind league leaders Chelsea after 11 Premier League games.
