Richard Keys wades in on Guardiola marriage: ‘Lies’ warning over Man City boss
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly separated from his wife and Richard Keys has decided to have his say on the matter.
The former Barcelona player and manager has been seen wearing his wedding ring, despite rumours from Spain that the couple have separated after 30 years together. [Daily Mail]
Former Sky Sports presenter Keys, who is no stranger to divorce himself, said on his latest post on X: “It’s always sad when a long marriage ends. Let’s hope people don’t start telling lies about why. At least we now know why Guardiola has been so tetchy but why didn’t the British press have this story? Or did they?”
The “tetchy” behaviour that Keys is describing appears to be referencing a video that recently surfaced of the Man City manager giving autograph hunters a stern talking to. [GOAL]
The Spaniard also appeared for his post-match interview after drawing 3-3 with Feyenoord with scratches on his head and nose and apologised for his comments referring to “self-harm.”
Man City need to back Pep Guardiola struggles to deal with pressure
Football Insider Verdict
Guardiola is no stranger to pressure, but one might argue that he is not very adept at dealing with it.
Following his time in charge of Barcelona, the City manager took a year-long sabbatical to recuperate from the demands of the job.
Despite his success in charge, his duels with Jose Mourinho, coach of Real Madrid at the time, clearly weighed heavily on Guardiola.

Following a year out, he joined a Bayern Munich side that had just won the Champions League under Jupp Heynckes, and once again struggled to deal with pressure from the board and fans.
He was able to claim three Bundesliga titles whilst in charge of the Bavarian side, but the Champions League trophy eluded him and he chose to leave once again.
Man City has been something a safe space for the Spaniard. The fanbase had great expectations of the coach but have backed him completely and Guardiola was even handed a hierarchy in the club made up of former Barcelona compatriots with the likes of Txiki Begiristain as his director of football.
However, Man City have finally hit a rough patch after a period of sustained dominance and we are once again seeing the Spaniard struggle to deal with the pressure, it is likely that the City board will want to help him by making big moves in the transfer window.
City have been linked with Omar Marmoush, as the Citizens are without a back-up striker for Erling Haaland following Julian Alvarez’s move to Atletico Madrid.
The Sky Blues are also in a race with Tottenham to sign Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens in France.
In other news, City may have agreed two deals already in the January transfer window.
