Richarlison and Declan Rice react to Gabriel Jesus’ injury update to Arsenal fans

Arsenal and Tottenham players were both active on social media to respond to Gabriel Jesus’ most recent update as he continues his recovery from a season-ending injury.

The Brazilian international has endured a difficult spell at Arsenal, with recurring injuries continually stalling his progress.

He has been sidelined since January, and it was later confirmed that Jesus had suffered an ACL injury, which required knee surgery.

His absence left Arsenal short of options in attack, particularly after Kai Havertz also suffered a season-ending injury just weeks later. With no natural striker available, the Gunners were forced to adapt in the final stretch of the campaign.

Jesus, once a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans, has somewhat faded from the spotlight in recent months, especially as Arsenal edge closer to signing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the former Manchester City forward made sure to reconnect with supporters, sharing a heartfelt message and update on his progress as he works towards a return.

The Brazilian forward shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, posting a photo of himself back on the pitch with a football. He captioned it: “Only God and I know” alongside a football and praying emoji.

Plenty of fellow players responded to the post, including Arsenal teammates Declan Rice, William Saliba, and Jurrien Timber, as well as Brazilian compatriot and Tottenham forward Richarlison, who all showed support by liking the update.

Most of the Arsenal squad have now returned for pre-season training ahead of their tour to Singapore and Hong Kong, but Jesus is continuing his recovery separately as he builds back towards full fitness.

Before suffering his setback, he had started to find his rhythm, scoring six goals in December and finally stringing together some form.

However, his finishing was still a point of contention, with many Arsenal supporters urging the club to replace Jesus with a more clinical striker, and those calls may soon be answered.

The Gunners have made signing a striker a top priority this summer and are now close to landing Sporting CP forward Gyokeres.

Although progress has been made, Arsenal are still working to finalise the finer details of the Gyokeres deal, with Sporting insisting that any add-ons in the agreement must be realistic and achievable.

The North London club had previously weighed up a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but all signs now point to Gyokeres as the club’s preferred option. Arteta is also reportedly keen to have his new striker involved in the upcoming pre-season tour, as they travel this weekend.
