Rio Ferdinand sends message to Man United fans after shock axe
Man United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned that “no-one is safe at Man United” after INEOS ended Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassadorial contract.
According to The Athletic, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS came to a mutual understanding with Ferguson, 82, and decided to cancel his multi-million-pound role.
Since purchasing 27.7 per cent of the club, INEOS have overseen multiple cuts, from the kit man to the club historian, 250 people have lost their jobs due to cost-cutting measures.
The former United boss is set to remain part of the club in a non-executive director role and will be welcome to continue attending matches.
Ferguson won 38 trophies during his 26-year tenure as manager of the Premier League giants and has remained with the club as a global ambassador and director since stepping down in 2013.
Rio Ferdinand warns change is coming at Man United
Erik ten Hag remains in the job despite leading Man United’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season, with the team sitting 14th after two wins, two draws, and three defeats from their opening seven games.
After their dismal start to the season, Ferdinand, 45, took to X, formally known as Twitter, to warn that big changes could be coming to Man United.
Once the international break is over, the 20-time Premier League champions will face Brentford, the side that handed Ten Hag a hefty 4-0 defeat in his second game in charge of the club.
The Dutchman is in desperate need of a victory as Man United’s chances of qualifying for European competition diminish with each passing game.
