Rio Ferdinand has labelled Dele Alli a “joke” in a complimentary way after his outstanding form for Tottenham this season.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been in firm form once again across the campaign and has played a huge part in helping Spurs to compete for the Premier League title.
He was also named the PFA Young Player of the Year for the second year in a row in April and many thought he should have been named for the main award.
Now, Ferdinand has shared that he is also a fan of the Tottenham star, including him in his personal team of the season, but he also believes Alli’s future lies away from the north London club.
“For his [N’Golo Kante] midfield partner I’m going to go Dele Alli,” started Ferdinand speaking on his personal YouTube channel when discussing his team of the season.
“He’s been a joke this year. To be the age that he is and to score so many goals and he’s influenced so many games.”
Ferdinand then added: “I think the biggest thing for him is timing. When you leave Spurs, I don’t think it’s if he or is he going to leave Spurs, I think it’s when he’s going to leave Spurs.”
Alli has scored a tremendous 21 goals while providing 11 himself in 47 appearances in all competitions this season.
His initial £5million cost from League One side MK Dons back in the winter of 2015 now looks like nothing and while he contracted to the club until 2022 Tottenham supporters will be hoping he remains at the club for a lot longer.
However, big clubs will surely be calling soon and they will be trying to test Daniel Levy’s resolve with some big money offers.
In other Tottenham news, a chairman has responded on Twitter to a fan asking if he’ll sign 21-year-old Spurs man.
