Partick ace raves about Celtic player after Scottish Cup clash

Partick ace Ryan Edwards has praised Celtic defender Kieran Tierney after his defending prevented Edwards from scoring a last minute equaliser in the Scottish Cup tie between the sides
With the score at 3-2 to the Hoops and the game in stoppage time, Edwards was prevented from getting on the end of a cross in the six yard box by Tierney, with the final whistle going shortly afterwards.
Even though he was upset with the outcome of the match, Edwards was man enough to praise the 20-year-old’s match-winning contribution.
“It was coming right on my foot and Tierney did ever so well and then the keeper just picked it up” Edwards said, as quoted by the Evening Times.
“It was a great ball from Chris Erskine. It’s Tierney that blocks it and he’s done ever so well because I was in front of him and he just wraps his left leg and it just gets stuck in his legs.”
Tierney was one of the bright spots for the Hoops in their laboured victory over the Jags, the other being the performance of James Forrest, whose match-winning hat-trick took his goal tally for the season to 17, only one behind current top scorer Scott Sinclair.
After defeating Partick, the Hoops have been drawn to face Championship side Morton at home in the quarter-finals of the cup.
Before then though attention will turn to the Bhoys’ return to Europe, and Tierney will be a key man for the Hoops in their Europa League last 32 first leg against Russian side Zenit.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will need a big performance from Tierney if they are to take a positive result in the second leg.
