Rodgers already planning for life without brilliant Celtic attacker as sights set on replacement

Patrick Roberts has had two hugely impressive loan spells at Celtic but he is unlikely to have a third.
The player revealed last week that he has loved his time at Parkhead and did not rule out the possibility of extending his stay beyond this summer, when he is due back at parent club Manchester City.
But Celtic clearly think otherwise and are already planning for life without the brilliant wide forward.
As revealed by Football Insider today, Celtic are planning to make three senior summer signings. Rodgers wants to bring in a new right-back, a right-sided winger and a striker as he continues his rebuilding at Parkhead and builds a side capable of challenging in Europe as well as continuing to dominate domestically.
Hoops fans’ hearts will sink at the impending exit of Roberts, who has made a huge impact since initially joining in January 2016 when Ronny Deila was the manager.

An 18-month loan was followed by a second one of 12 months and the numbers stack up over the last two-and-a-bit years, with 18 goals and 24 assists from 72 appearances.
Roberts’ mobility, technical ability and cutting edge make him a key member of the front line, and the best to watch when on song. He has been badly missed during the last four months due to injury.
Replacing the young Englishman, who has two years remaining on his Man City contract, will not be easy.
His quick feet and ability to dance around defenders from a wide position is one of football’s toughest skills, and Celtic have set their stall out early to find someone capable of filling literally small, but metaphorically, huge, boots.
In other Celtic news, it has been revealed today that the Scottish champions have launched a bid to sign the a brilliant English Championship player who is out of contract this summer.
