Paul Robinson cannot understand why Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho withdrew Tanguy Ndombele in last night’s 1-1 draw against Wolves.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the midfielder, who celebrates his 24th Birthday today, “was the best player on the pitch” prior to his substitution.
Ndombele opened the scoring after just 57 seconds at Molineux, his third goal in 20 appearances this season and the official Spurs Twitter account trumpeted his impact.

The Lilywhites’ record signing was replaced by Moussa Sissoko after 70 minutes and 15 minutes later, Roman Saiss denied Spurs the chance to climb up to fourth.
Robinson heaped praise on Ndombele and suggested that the outcome of the game could have been different if he had stayed on.
“Ndombele was outstanding,” he told Football Insider.
“He is looking all the player that we expected him to be. His performances of late have been right up there.
“I just cannot understand why he was taken off when he was taken off. He was full of confidence and running the game. He was the best player on the pitch yesterday so I do not know why he was taken off.”
Speaking after the draw, Mourinho told Sky Sports: “I don’t want to say much.
“I know the way that I prepare the team, I know what asked for from the players, I know what I told them at half-time, I know all of that and I do not want to say much more about that.”
