Robinson: ‘Credit to Levy’ after ‘encouraging’ Ndombele reveal at Tottenham

Paul Robinson has claimed Daniel Levy “deserves credit” for his part in keeping Tanguy Ndombele at Tottenham.

The former Spurs goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 24-year-old midfielder is showing “encouraging signs” at the club.

Speaking to the Telegraph (October 24th), Ndombele claimed he is “perhaps still at Tottenham” because of a 2020 meeting he had with Daniel Levy which was captured on the All or Nothing Amazon documentary series.

The Frenchman has worked his way back into Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans after he asked to leave the club during the summer.

Ndombele has made five Premier League appearances after being frozen out of Tottenham’s pre-season games, scoring once.

Robinson insisted there is “so much more” to get out of the “frustrating” midfielder.

“Ndombele is a different type of player to a lot of others off the field,” he told Football Insider.

“He needs to be man-managed in a different way to get the best out of him.

“Daniel Levy deserves credit for the way he identified the issue and spoke directly to him about it.

“We’ve seen flashes from him, he’s been frustrating since signing because he can’t do it week-in, week-out.

“He’s a player that the manager should be getting a lot more out of but there are encouraging signs.

“He has played him the most of any manager who has had him at Spurs, and he’s played his best football under Nuno.

“He’s a top-quality player but there’s so much more to get out of him.”

Ndombele joined Tottenham in 2019 for a reported £55m fee.

He has made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
