Robinson delivers damning Ancelotti verdict and savages Everton player 'who only turns up when he fancies it'

Everton have not progressed under Carlo Ancelotti and James Rodriguez only turns up “when he fancies it”.

That is the view of former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Everton’s dismal finish to the 2020-21 campaign.

A 5-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday consigned the Toffees to a 10th placed finish in Ancelotti’s first full season in charge.

To miss out on the European spots will come as a disappointment for Everton after they were one point off fourth with a game in hand in March.

Home form has been a big concern for Ancelotti’s side, with just six wins from 19 games in the 2020-21 campaign.

Robinson claimed the Blues record at Goodison Park “was nothing short of awful”.

“I do not see how they’ve progressed or how they’ve developed under his management,” he told Football Insider.

“Their home form has been nothing short of awful. If anyone has missed fans this year it is Everton. They have been turned over by the likes of Burnley, Newcastle and Sheffield United. They are terrible results.

“Ancelotti has a lot of credit in the bank because of his CV but in my opinion they have not progressed.

“James Rodriguez has been a big disappointment. He only seems to fancy turning up in certain games and that’s a big problem for them.

“Everton have flattered to deceive this year. They were second and one point but have finished behind Leeds United.

“You would have expected them to finish higher than 10th. Put it this way, Ancelotti was not brought in to get Everton into the top 10.”
