Robinson hails 'big, big news' after Tottenham-Kane update from Athletic
Paul Robinson has claimed Tottenham are capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season if Harry Kane stays.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said Son Heung-min’s new deal and the club’s transfer activity have given him renewed hope heading into the new season.
Tottenham confirmed last Friday that Son had put pen to paper on a new four-year contract in north London.
However, the future of Harry Kane remains a highly contentious issue.
According to The Athletic (July 24th), senior figures at the club are confident Kane will still be a Spurs player when the transfer window shuts.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs what Spurs could achieve next season if Kane stays, Robinson said:

“Tottenham can challenge for the top four and even the league title with Kane.
“With the signings they are making and the signing of Son on a new long-term deal things are looking up.
“I was worried about how Son would view his future if Kane was not around so it is big, big news that he is on board for the next few years.
“If Harry Kane stays they can compete and challenge next season. We saw them do that for the first half of last season. Without Kane I think they will struggle.
“Nobody is talking about Spurs challenging next season and that might work in their advantage.”
The club have announced two signings within the past week, with Pierluigi Gollini joining from Atalanta and Byran Gil from Sevilla.
At least one centre-half is also expected to join in the coming weeks.
