Robinson in awe of Rangers after 'brilliant' announcement

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Rangers for expanding their partnership with Orange County Soccer Club in the USA.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed it is a “brilliant idea” with a lot of unearthed talent in the country.

Rangers announced on 15 June that they will host their first “youth clinic” with Orange County this summer.

It comes as part of a multi-year commitment to discovering and developing world-class football talent from the USA.

The Gers began their partnership with the USL Championship club in December 2019.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the partnership, Robinson said:

“There is a lot of untapped talent in America so I think it is a very clever move by Rangers.

“There is a lot of people who love football in America. I go over there quite regularly and I can see it is growing in popularity rapidly. It has grown so much over recent years.

“The top clubs are all starting soccer schools over there. I know Paris Saint-Germain have one in Florida and we all know Manchester City have a lot of links over there.

“It is such a vast country and there is so much talent out there just waiting to be discovered.

“We are going to see a lot of top players come from America in the next few years so I think it’s a brilliant idea for Rangers to increase their involvement over there and this could be a world-class plan.”
