Robinson makes bold prediction over Gerrard's future after Rangers transfer update

Steven Gerrard’s recent transfer comments suggest he is at Rangers for the long haul.

That’s according to former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Gerrard’s future.

In a press conference last week, Gerrard said, “We have a recruitment strategy here that does not stop.”

This came following the signing of Fashion Sakala from KV Oostende.

The Gers also have Nnamdi Ofoborh joining the club this summer after he was signed in January but joined Wycombe for the remainder of the Championship campaign.

There may yet be more signings through the door as it is understood Rangers have looked at striker targets who can potentially replace Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers’ 2021 signings Sakala, Ofoborh, Scott Wright and Jack Simpson are all 24 or under.

Robinson claims Gerrard’s transfer strategy is a clear sign that he has no plans of moving on just yet.

“He’s in this for the long haul,” Robinson told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“You can see that from the young signings he’s made.

“Until Liverpool or a top Premier League club comes to take him away. His signings have been very good, very astute.

“He doesn’t just sign players for the here and now, he signs for the future.”
