Robinson 'wowed' by Aston Villa bid for 'immense' Smith Rowe after key update
Paul Robinson is stunned by Aston Villa and their pursuit of Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed it is “very cheeky” of the Midlands club to make a move for the “immense” 20-year-old.
Aston Villa had an initial £25million offer for Smith Rowe rejected last week.
As revealed by Football Insider on 21 June, Villa are preparing to submit an improved £30million bid for the England Under-21 international.
Smith Rowe was one of only a few success stories at the Emirates last season.
The club are currently trying to tie the young playmaker down to a new contract as his current deal is set to expire in 2023.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said:
“I cannot see it happening but wow, what a show of intent from Villa. It’s a very cheeky bid.
“Mikel Arteta no doubt sees Smith Rowe as one of his key players and he will be an integral player for Arsenal if they are to challenge in coming years. You cannot let a player of the age and immense quality of Smith Rowe leave.
“18 months ago you could see Villa trying to push a loan through for a season but now that Smith Rowe has become a regular first team player at Arsenal you cannot see how they could get a deal done.”
