Rodgers aims dig at Rangers player ahead of Old Firm clash
By James Black
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has taken aim at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos after his conduct against Partick Thistle.
Morelos got involved in a spat with a Partick player during the game although the referee took no action against the Rangers player.
Rodgers’ Ibrox counterpart Pedro Caixinha had suggested that the Hoops players would try to get the Colombian striker sent off by provoking him but Rodgers flatly denied the idea – claiming the player needed no help in that regard.
Morelos has had a fantastic start to life at Ibrox scoring eight times in his first ten games for the Gers.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Rodgers conceded that Morelos had started well but rejected the idea his team would need to wind him up as he pointed out how he look rattled against Partick without any intervention from his own team.

“It’s not really something we concentrate on,” the Celtic manager said, as quoted by STV’s website.
“I don’t think he’ll need any help in that from what I’ve seen watching the game the other night against Partick Thistle.
“We concentrate on ourselves. He’s a young boy that’s come into the country and he’s started his campaign well.
“He’s got some goals, he’s only 20 and wants to score more goals. Sometimes when you’re young you can get a wee bit fired up but we concentrate on our own work.”
Morelos will almost certainly start the lunchtime clash between the Glasgow giants and will be aiming to find the goals which bring Celtic’s 56-game unbeaten domestic run crashing to a halt.
The 20-year-old has shown flashes of his fiery temperament, getting caught up in a number of clashes with opposition players in recent games, and has picked up three bookings already this season.
Despite claims Morelos could be at risk of a sending off, the former HJK Helsinki striker has yet to receive a red card in his professional career.
Both sides go into the game on the back of wins in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals and could find themselves meeting again next month when the semi-final draw is made later tonight.
In other Rangers transfer news, a 26-year-old in the form of his life has revealed he was offered a number of deals to quit Ibrox this summer.
