Rodgers plots January raid on former club for highly-rated teenager, player could be keen on Celtic move - report
By Derek Smithson
Celtic are interested in signing Swansea defender Joe Rodon, according to a report.
The Sun claim that Brendan Rodgers wants to raid his former club for the 19-year-old, who is considered to be a highly-rated talent.
It is understood the Bhoys manager wants a new centre-back he can groom into a top player and the Scottish giants may attempt a loan move in January after watching him recently.
However, Premier League giants Manchester City are also keen on the defender that has been dubbed the next John Stones.
The report details that youngster Rodon could be tempted on a move north “if the circumstances are right” which should give Celtic a chance.

Rodon is regarded as a huge talent at Swansea and is being tipped to make a first-team breakthrough in the near future.
The ball-playing defender is yet to represent the Swans at senior level, but has impressed while captaining the Under-23s side.
Celtic currently have the centre-back position as a problem area for them and Rodon could be bought in during the January window to fix that area.
Football Insider verdict:
Celtic may be put off by Man City’s interest in Rodon, but the offer of regular senior football should be a bigger pull than sitting in reserve for Pep Guardiola’s side. Rodgers has frequently shown his desire to promote youth and his connection with Swansea could help secure a deal for the young defender. The 19-year-old needs to experience senior football as he looks to make the step up and Scottish football would be the perfect platform. Rodgers could do with another centre-back in his squad and in truth should have done the business in January, but a loan move in January will have to make do. Rodon’s performances for Swansea’s Under-23s has earned him a call-up for Wales’ youth team and he is someone that looks ready for the next step.
