Rodrygo breaks silence with one-word response as ‘Arsenal deal collapses’

Rodrygo dropped a one-word message that may have hinted where his future lies after an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of the winger.

Arsenal are expected to bolster their forward line this summer following another frustrating campaign that saw them finish second in the Premier League for a third consecutive season.

Gabriel Martinelli struggled for form for Arsenal throughout the year, and with growing fan frustration around Leandro Trossard, the Gunners are targeting fresh attacking options — with Rodrygo among those linked.

However, despite interest from Mikel Arteta’s side, Football Insider revealed that Arsenal now look set to miss out on Rodrygo,  as he is expected to remain at Los Blancos beyond the summer transfer window.

Amid that development, he posted a single-word message that appeared to support the growing belief that he will remain at the Bernabeu beyond the summer.

Rodrygo hints at Real Madrid stay with ‘happy’ message

The Brazilian forward is currently preparing with Real Madrid as the European champions gear up for the Club World Cup.

Rodrygo shared a training update on social media with the caption “FELIZ” – the Portuguese word for “happy” – which many may interpret as a hint about his future.

The post drew reactions from players across the football world, including Savinho, Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who also recently linked with a move to Arsenal.

Despite strong interest from the Gunners, Football Insider revealed on 18 May that Real Madrid would demand around £100million for Rodrygo – a fee that appears to have discouraged several potential suitors.

The 24-year-old made just 22 league starts for Madrid last season but still delivered 24 goal contributions in all competitions, underlining why he remains highly regarded despite facing competition from the likes of Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe.

Arsenal consider Morgan Rogers as alternative to Rodrygo

With hopes of signing Rodrygo fading, the Gunners seem to have turned their attention elsewhere.

Football Insider reported that Arsenal are monitoring Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers following an impressive breakout season.

The former Man City academy graduate has shone at Villa Park, registering 29 goal involvements and catching the eye of several top Premier League clubs.

Although Unai Emery is likely to want to keep the versatile Englishman, Aston Villa may be forced to cash in on key players due to their current financial situation, which could be a scenario that could give Arsenal the perfect opportunity to make their move.
