Rushian Hepburn-Murphy sends message to Aston Villa fans

By Amir Mir

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has posted a Twitter message ahead of Aston Villa under-21s clash against Swansea on Monday evening.

The 18-year-old striker has been out injured since January and he is set to make his return as he builds up his fitness.

There is the possibility that the highly-rated player could feature in Steve Bruce’s first-team plans with only five matches of the season remaining.

However, until then, he will be looking to impress for the Villa youngsters as they aim to pick up three points against the Swans.

“First game back today,” Hepburn-Murphy wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Hepburn-Murphy has barely featured for the senior side this season, only playing 12 minutes of football under Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Bruce.

The teenager signed a new contract with the club in January as Bruce has promised to involve him more in the first-team plans following his contract extension.

Hepburn-Murphy’s fellow academy product, Andre Green, has been one of a number of players that has featured for the senior side, having come through the system.

Now, Hepburn-Murphy will be looking to follow in their footsteps as Villa aim to end their disappointing season on a high.

The Midlands outfit started the campaign with Italian Di Matteo in the Villa Park dugout as he was tasked to guide the team to instant promotion.

However, the former Chelsea man was sacked in mid-October and replaced by promotion expert Bruce, who has had mixed results since his arrival.

In other Aston Villa news, Steve Bruce has stated what is the harsh realities of being Villa manager.
