Russell Martin to Leicester odds slashed after events vs Birmingham
Leicester City’s search for a new manager could be closer to a conclusion.
Leicester suffered a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City on 7 February, with Bobby Decordova-Reid sent off in the first-half.
Abdul Fatawu scored in the 21st minute to level the scores, but the Blues scored a 67th-minute winner through Jay Stansfield to take all three points.
The result leaves the King Power Stadium side sitting 21st in the Championship, level on points with Blackburn Rovers, who occupy the last relegation spot.
That could quicken up their search for their next permanent boss.
Russell Martin to Leicester odds shift again
Russell Martin has been constantly linked with the Leicester job.
The former Southampton and Rangers boss was previously 7/2 favourite with one major bookmaker to take over from interim manager Andy King.
He has now been reduced to a 5/2 favourite after the latest poor result under King’s management.

King is 4/1 to get the role permanently, while Michael Skubala (4/1), Gary Rowett (6/1) and Chris Coleman (6/1) are also contenders for the post.
Why Leicester fans will be concerned with Martin appointment
If the club appoints Martin as their new manager, there will be a lot of scepticism, and for good reason.
Martin is regarded as a solid Championship operator, having built strong teams with Swansea and the Saints.
However, his most recent spell in a dugout, with Rangers, will come to mind, and his time in Glasgow was utterly dismal.
The 40-year-old could not work out his best team, the football they played was miserable, and he was handed his marching orders after just 123 days in the job.

The worst aspect of his reign in Scottish football, was his refusal to abandon his rigid tactic principles when they clearly were not working.
The Leicester job would come with similar pressure, as they were Premier League Champions and FA Cup winners recently, so supporters expect excellence and do not tolerate mediocrity.
It would not be the most exciting appointment for the Foxes, and it has the potential to go pear-shaped pretty quickly.
Whoever the foxes appoint will likely struggle to turn things around, but Martin could be a disaster.
