Sandro Tonali sends three-word message to teammate amid ‘Newcastle exit’ claim
Sandro Tonali directed a message to a Newcastle teammate as speculation continues to swirl around his future at St James’ Park.
Newcastle boosted their Champions League hopes with a commanding 3-0 win over Leicester on 7 April, a result that further underlined their strong end-of-season form.
Jacob Murphy’s quickfire brace inside the opening 11 minutes put the away side in control, before former Leicester winger Harvey Barnes added a third with a simple tap-in to complete the job before half-time.
Tonali featured in a familiar midfield trio alongside Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, controlling the tempo in a dominant first-half display that saw Newcastle score all three goals within 34 minutes.
While the Italian has played a crucial role for Eddie Howe this season, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that Tonali harbours a desire to leave Newcastle in the near future, despite his importance on the pitch.
However, the 24-year-old didn’t let the rumours affect his mood as he sent a message to a teammate after the match on social media.
Premier League table | Points |
4. Chelsea | 53 |
5. Newcastle | 53 |
6. Man City | 52 |
7. Aston Villa | 51 |
Sandro Tonali hails Dan Burn amid standout Newcastle season
Tonali shared a photo on Instagram alongside Dan Burn with the caption: “BIG DAN BURN” in a show of admiration for his teammate’s strong form.
It’s been a season to remember for the centre-back, as Burn earned his first England call-up and also netted the opener in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup victory last month.
As for Tonali, the Italian midfielder has been steadily re-establishing himself in Eddie Howe’s side following a challenging spell on the sidelines due to an FA betting ban. His return has coincided with a run of strong individual performances, further underlining his value to the squad.
Despite recent rumours suggesting interest from Barcelona, Football Insider revealed that Newcastle have no intention of entertaining offers for Tonali.
Since returning to action, he has made 37 appearances for the Magpies, scoring four goals and providing two assists–a solid return that reflects his growing influence at St James’ Park.

Newcastle optimistic of keeping Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali amid European charge
As Newcastle continue their push for a top-four finish, speculation has inevitably emerged over the future of some of their standout players with Guimaraes being the subject of interest from both Manchester City and Arsenal in recent months.
But Football Insider revealed the Newcastle are confident of keeping hold of Guimaraes if they secure Champions League qualification.
Following Arsenal’s impressive 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, the Premier League has secured a fifth Champions League spot for next season, boosting their chances of meeting their European ambitions and holding onto their star players.
If Howe’s side can maintain their current form, both Guimaraes and Tonali look set to remain at the heart of Newcastle’s midfield into next season and beyond.
