Schneiderlin: This is what Everton must do to become a top six PL side
By Matt Farr
Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin believes the club must improve their away form if they are to break into the Premier League’s top six.
The Toffees are guaranteed a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League this term, as they head into their final game of the season against Arsenal on Sunday.
They have though, secured a return to European competition after their one-year absence, earning qualification for the Europa League next term.
However, Everton will not be willing to settle for seventh next season, and will be hungry to push their rivals for a top six finish.
But Schneiderlin, who joined the club from Manchester United in January, believes Everton must improve their form away from home if they are to stand any chance of finishing among the Premier League’s elite.

He said, as quoted by TalkSport: “We look stronger at home but we need to progress away from home and hopefully next year we will do that to catch the team above us because there is not a lot of margin between us and the top six.
“You can see the difference between home form and away form. That is the main thing.
“If we won more games away from home we could have been top five so we need to be able to rectify that and know why we have not had the results we want away from home.”
Everton have posted their best return at Goodison Park since 1989-90 by picking up a total of 43 points from their home games this season, with 13 wins and 42 goals scored.
However, eight defeats on the road has seen them pick up just 18 points from as many matches, scoring only 19 goals in what is a stark contrast to their home success.
They have not won on their travels since the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on January 21, having since slipped to defeat at Swansea, and being held to draws by relegated Middlesbrough and struggling West Ham.
Manchester United, meanwhile, who sit five points above Everton in sixth-place, have picked up a possible 35 points from their away games this season.
