Morgan Schneiderlin has made the tongue-in-cheek comment on Twitter he wants to prove his fitness by sparring with Everton fan and champion boxer Tony Bellew.
Everton posted a video of the France international working his way back to fitness from a calf injury suffered against Hull, which saw Schneiderlin using boxing during his recovery.
The 27-year-old claimed he wanted to fight Bellew for the “Championship of the World” in the video, but then backed down on his Twitter account, claiming he “was only joking.”

A January summer signing from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Schneiderlin limped off during the first half of Everton’s convincing 4-0 triumph against Hull.
However, the former Southampton ace could now return for Saturday’s Merseyside derby against Liverpool, as the Toffees look to end a dismal run of form at Anfield.
Ronald Koeman’s side have failed to win at Anfield since 1999, when a Kevin Campbell goal earned a 1-0 win that also saw Francis Jeffers, Steven Gerrard and Sander Westerveld receive red cards.
However, Koeman will be hoping his side’s impressive run of recent form will help the Toffees end that run, after securing victory eight times in their last 11 league games.
With or without Schneiderlin, three points against their Merseyside rivals could see Everton climb to fifth place in the Premier League, if Arsenal and Man United both lose.
In other Everton news, this senior Aston Villa figure has made a bold statement regarding the Toffees.
