Morgan Schneiderlin will not be a flop at Everton because he has already proven he can shine under Ronald Koeman.
The former Manchester United midfielder sealed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Everton on Thursday and he is expected to feature regularly under Koeman.
The two worked together during Schneiderlin’s final season at Southampton before the player moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2015 and they both achieved great success.
The Saints finished seventh in the Premier League following a successful 2014-15 campaign and Schneiderlin starred in midfield as a pivotal player in the team.
At United, he was thrown into a set-up which didn’t suit his style and he was no longer a key figure but simply a bit-part player in a squad bursting with midfield talent.
It will suit him at Everton, where he is likely to become a long-term replacement for Gareth Barry as one of the Blues’ holding midfielders – though he could begin to build a partnership with Idrissa Gueye almost immediately upon his arrival.
Schneiderlin has great composure on the ball and will provide reliable cover for Everton’s back four, as well as possessing the ability to build attacks from the centre with his wide passing range.
He wasn’t given enough opportunity at United to settle but Koeman knows how Schneiderlin will respond to certain situations and will be sure to guide him in the best way possible to bring out his strengths.
