Scots pundit: Celtic in great position as deal agreed and medical lined up
Alan Hutton has insisted Celtic may struggle to strengthen their starting XI in January despite Ange Postecoglou’s plans for new signings.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland international stated the Bhoys already have great “strength in depth” and that their only “weakness” is their swashbuckling style of play.
As quoted by the Daily Record (22 November), Postecoglou revealed Celtic have “a couple (of signings) lined up” as they look to “box clever” in the winter window.
As revealed by Football Insider (19 November), the Hoops are already lining up a medical for Vissel Kobe’s Yuki Kobayashi.
However, Hutton admitted Postecoglou may struggle to improve his side with new signings.
“Everybody wants to strengthen and upgrade but there aren’t too many weak points I see at this moment in time,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“Their only weakness is, and this is going to sound a bit silly, but the way they play, they’re so relentless going forward that they obviously leave gaps at the back.
“They’ve got this mentality, they go to the end, if you score two, we’ll score three. It’s obviously a great thing to have.
“I’m sure Ange will want to bring somebody in, he’ll have targets in mind. I’m not sure in what positions, if I’m totally honest, because even if they weren’t to bring anybody in, they’re still in a very strong position.
“They’ve got strength in depth all over the pitch, two players in each position. They’re in a healthy position at this moment.”
Celtic currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Premiership table after 15 games.
