Scott Brown and Joe Hart respond to major exit announcement at Celtic

Celtic caught the attention of past and present as a first-team exit from Brendan Rodgers’ side was confirmed.

Callum Osmand and Ross Doohan have already agreed deals at Celtic Park, joining Benjamin Nygren ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and the manager is bringing in multiple reinforcements.

Despite winning the Scottish Premiership title in style, beating their Old Firm rivals Rangers to top spot by 17 points, the Hoops were desperate to achieve even more success away from Scotland.

Rodgers’ side reached the Champions League round of 32, narrowly missing out on the next step following a crushing aggregate defeat to German giants Bayern Munich.

Rodgers has previously been upset by Celtic’s lack of immediacy in the transfer market, but with business already being done at both entrance at exit doors, the Northern Irishman should be much happier next term.

Greg Taylor exit confirmed at Celtic Park

Taking to Instagram (1 July), the official club account wrote: “We can confirm that Greg Taylor has joined Greek side, PAOK. Everyone at Celtic would like to thank Greg for his vast contribution and efforts for the Club.

“Best of luck and thank you, Greg,” with the announcement gaining likes from Arne Engels, Alistair Johnston, Nicolas Kuhn, and Auston Trusty from the current squad.

Former stars, Joe Ledley and Scott Brown, both liked the post, while Joe Hart replied with three green love hearts, as well as writing: “Tayla”.

Brendan Rodgers to take the Hoops even further next season

Football Insider verdict

The failure to replace Kyogo Furuhashi properly was the main issue for the manager last season, and while an out-and-out striker has not yet been found, there are positive signs.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rodgers could quit Celtic should he not receive the full backing of the boardroom at Celtic Park, and fans will need to wait until the end of the window to understand the situation.

The team’s biggest threats last season were Daizen Maeda, Kuhn, and Adam Idah, though two of those three forwards have now been linked with moves away from Glasgow this summer.

Football Insider understands that Celtic have slapped a £20million price tag on Kuhn, who notched 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.

With Rangers likely to strengthen over the coming weeks, the new takeover is expected to open up funds, and supporters at Ibrox are excited about the potential squad changes under Russell Martin.

The Hoops will want to repeat their dominance in the Scottish Premiership, but with ambitions also in Europe, a lot of the focus will be on reaching a further stage of the Champions League next season.
