Celtic captain Scott Brown claims he has a great understanding alongside teammates Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic in the midfield.

The trio have formed a strong partnership this season and have cemented their places in the starting line-up.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has preferred to use a three-man midfield this season and it has helped them make an unbeaten start domestically.

The Bhoys completed a dramatic 4-3 victory against Motherwell in their last game and were facing a first league defeat, but were saved by late goals from Armstrong and Rogic.

Brown has revealed how the midfield system works and how flexible the players have to be.

“He’s (Armstrong) one of the first names on the team-sheet and he’s scoring goals every week,” Brown told the Scottish Sun. “It’s great for us having him and Tom Rogic pushing on from midfield and scoring goals.

“I just get to do all their dirty work, which is lovely. They work back as well though, the gaffer wants 11 men to work and we all do.”

He added: “Sometimes people get caught out of position and the good thing about the three of us is that we all work hard for each other and we can all push on or sit when required. We’ve got a good little trio going in there.”

Brown continues to be the heart of the Celtic team and the 31-year-old has already racked up a staggering 27 appearances this season across all competitions.

Armstrong has been transformed into a central midfielder this season by Rodgers after playing as a left winger for the majority of his career.

The 24-year-old has completed 90 minutes in the last five league games and has become an important member of the side, by offering both attacking and defensive qualities.

Rogic is the most advanced player of the midfield trio and has proved to be a huge goal threat this campaign.

The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals in 23 appearances and plays in the attacking midfielder role, with Brown and Armstrong offering the defensive stability.
