Old Firm scout report: Everything Celtic fans need to know about Rangers
By Matt Farr
Celtic and Rangers are set to go head-to-head at Parkhead on Sunday in the latest of four Old Firm derbies this season.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have won all of their previous three meetings with their Glasgow rivals this season, scoring eight goals and conceding just twice.
But if Celtic are going to maintain their 34-match unbeaten domestic record at Rangers’ expense on Sunday, Football Insider has revealed the three players they will need to watch out for.
The veteran is no stranger to the rivalry between the two clubs. He has been there and done it all. If anyone is going to be fired up to spoil the Celtic party, it will be Miller. The 37-year-old has scored six times during his last seven league outings against Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and he has proved once again this season that he can still perform on the big stage despite his advancing years. He has nine goals for the club this term, and will begin the tie as Rangers’ main goalscoring threat.

Adept at playing on either wing, Barrie McKay has the potential to make life difficult for Celtic’s full-backs. Kieran Tierney has been outstanding on the left-hand side for Rodgers’ side this season, so McKay would perhaps have more luck testing the resolve of either Christian Gamboa or Mikael Lustig at right-back. The 22-year-old has four goals and 11 assists from 36 in all competitions, and could be a threat on the counter attack. Celtic are likely to commit numbers forward to go in for the kill, and that is where Rangers could capitalise.
The midfield battle will be one of the most important areas to win for Rangers if they are to get anything out of the Old Firm derby. Celtic’s Scott Brown and Nir Bitton have found life very easy of late, and have strolled through their duties in the middle of the park against Scotland’s remaining opposition. However, Emerson Hyndman’s arrival on loan from Bournemouth in January has added a much-needed spark to the Ibrox unit, and he could have a massive role to play. There is still a lot left for him to learn, but going up against an experienced player like Brown could be an interesting challenge for him. He also likes to get forward, and that has seen him score three goals in his six league appearances.
