Liverpool host Burnley on Sunday in the Premier League and will be looking to consolidate their position in the top four.
The Reds defeated Arsenal 3-1 in their last game and now turn their attention to Sean Dyche’s side.
Liverpool suffered a 2-0 defeat in the previous meeting with Burnley this season and will be desperate for revenge.
Here, Football Insider delivers an insight into Liverpool’s latest opponents and the three players they should watch out for.
Burnley have exceeded pre-seaosn expectations and are sitting comfortably in mid-table, something that striker Andre Gray has played a massive role in. The 25-year-old has made the step up to the top-flight look effortless and has proved to be a valuable player for the Clarets. The English striker has scored nine goals across all competitions this season and has already plagued Liverpool this season, scoring one and assisting another. Gray will test Liverpool’s defence with his blistering pace, high intensity work-rate and finesse in front of goal
Michael Keane is surely on the brink of an England call-up and the Burnley defender has been in immaculate form this season. The centre-back has found a home at Turf Moor after failing to cut the grade at Manchester United as a youngster. He is the leader of Sean Dyche’s defence and should give Liverpool’s frontline a difficult test. The 24-year-old will relish the battle against Roberto Firmino and has rarely been beaten in one-on-one situations this season.
Burnley broke their club-record to sign midfielder Robbie Brady in January and he brings a touch of class to their side. The Irishman has a fantastic left foot and is a real threat from set-pieces. He should be able to cause Liverpool trouble all match with his crosses from set-pieces, while his only goal so far for the Clarets was a stunning free-kick effort against Chelsea. The 25-year-old is still finding his feet in Dyche’s side, but there is no questioning the serious threat he possesses.
In other Liverpool news, Michael Owen has predicted the clash against Burnley.
