Sean Dyche has rare chance to equal 115-year record during Nottingham Forest vs Man United

Nottingham Forest are looking to get their season back on track under the guidance of new manager Sean Dyche.

Dyche was appointed Nottingham Forest manager on October 21, and since then, the Englishman has taken charge of two matches.

Forest beat Porto 2-0 in the Europa League before his first Premier League fixture ended in a 2-0 loss against Bournemouth.

On Saturday (November 1), the Reds host Manchester United in the top-flight, with the task of winning three points looking difficult.

Ruben Amorim’s men have won their last three matches in the competition, but Dyche will want to stop them making it a fourth.

Nottingham Forest can break 115-year record against Man United

Speaking ahead of the clash at the City Ground, Dyche has praised the impact of Morgan Gibbs-White, who brings an ‘infectious’ attitude to the dressing room.

Gibbs-White has also shown his admiration for Man United, which won’t have pleased supporters, who will be begging their side to create history.

The Tricky Trees have won their last three league matches against the Red Devils, and according to BBC Sport, they last won four in a row between February 1909 and September 1910.

Therefore, successfully beating United for the fourth successive league game in a row would see Forest equal a record that has stood for 115 years.

Sean Dyche shares Nottingham Forest injury update

To equal history in this fixture, Dyche will have to do so without some of his key players.

Chris Wood is out injured after missing matches against Porto and Bournemouth, while the manager also provided updates on other first-team stars.

“I have made a note of them because we have got a couple of knocks,” Dyche said in his pre-match press conference. “Angus Gunn hasn’t been playing but is part of the squad, but he has opened up his knee ligaments.

“Woody is going to be possible for the Leeds game. He won’t make this one. We will have to see how that goes.

“Ola is making good progress. Zinchenko is a no at the moment, unfortunately, and is going to be a bit longer than we thought.

“Bakwa is still a no but is making good progress. I’m having to read them off a list so I don’t forget them.

“We’re hoping no more occur, that’s for sure. A few knocks but nothing too serious at the moment.”
