Senior ace axed in Montanier 4-2-3-1: Nottingham Forest best possible XI to face Sheffield Wednesday

By Amir Mir

Nottingham Forest need to consider playing an attacking line-up against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Philippe Montanier should make four changes to the side that were dumped out of the EFL Cup by Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Armand Traore, Lica, Mustapha Carayol and Apostolos Vellios must replace Eric Lichaj, Pajtim Kasami, Chris Cohen and Nicklas Bendtner in the Forest starting XI.

Reds captain Henri Lansbury needs to start in midfield and use his leadership qualities to help his side win their first league game since August at Hillsborough at the weekend.

Forest have conceded 17 goals this term, therefore Montanier must consider rotating his back line with the experienced Traore coming in at left-back and the adventurous Hildeberto Pereira at right-back.

But, the Reds manager must stick with his centre-back pairing of Michael Mancienne and Matt Mills, as Montanier must see how the duo respond after conceding six goals in their last two games.

In the absence of Britt Assombalonga, forward Vellios should start, as the Greek international can provide the goal threat with Nicolao Dumitru in behind.

Additionally, Forest have scored 17 goals this term, so Carayol and Lica should start out wide and use their pace and trickery to provide the service for Vellios and Dumitru against a tough and robust Wednesday defence.
