Thierry Henry has been summoned to Arsenal for talks over the manager’s job, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that the former Arsenal legend will break off from his preparations with the Belgium World Cup squad to meet with Ivan Gazidis about a sensational return to the club.
Henry is currently the assistant to Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez, where he is said to have impressed.
Another former player, Mikel Arteta, is the current favourite, but this could add a twist to the tale.
Football Insider verdict:
This would be a sensational twist to the Arsenal story. Arteta looked done and dusted, with all the other candidates dropping away in the race. Henry is still as long as 80/1 with some bookies, with Arteta odds-on, so it’s by no means seen as likely that Arsenal’s all-time top scorer will be handed the manager’s job. What about as part of a dream team with Arteta? If the report is true it seems that Henry is on the way for talks and fans would love to see him back at the club.
