Senior Newcastle stars will be ‘buzzing’ after what I’ve heard about Howe – Pundit
Frank McAvennie claims the Newcastle first team will be “buzzing” after working under Eddie Howe and his new backroom team.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, loves what he’s heard about the new Magpies boss.
On 16 November, Newcastle confirmed Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone have all joined the club after working with Howe at Bournemouth.
The club also confirmed Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, who arrived with Steve Bruce in 2019, have departed the club.
The well-connected McAvennie insists Newcastle’s star players will be delighted with Howe’s work on the training ground the appointment of a brand new backroom team.
“I’ve spent the last week praising Steve Clarke for the job he’s done with Scotland,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s always on the training pitch with the lads and he’s very involved, I’ve heard from people in the game Eddie Howe is the same.
“Apparently he’s a bit like Brendan Rodgers in that he’s very meticulous and will not let anything slip. That’s just brilliant.
“I imagine the players are buzzing. I know when Clarke went to West Ham as a coach, he was doing exercises and drills the players had never seen before.
“The players were in awe of what he was doing and I imagine the Newcastle players are in awe of Howe as well.
“This team of coaches will be doing completely different things and they should get so much more out of those players.”

Newcastle face Brentford on Saturday afternoon looking for their first win of the season.
The club sit 19th in the Premier League and five points from safety.
